Reading– Mrs. Lee is reading Sing Down the Moon by Scott O’Dell
with our classes. Remember to work on reading response questions. We will be working with characterization and comparing pieces of reading this week. Grammar/Writing : We are working on informational writing and will continue work with Mentor Sentences. Next week, we will continue capitalization rules. Lee’s class will take the sentence test on Tuesday, September 23rd. Study Guides have been provided. Writing skills will be practiced through each subject area. Spelling/Word Study: We will continue our review of different spelling patterns. We will also be studying words that have multiple meanings. Math: We are beginning chapter 3. Look for daily homework in math and continue to study multiplication facts everyday!!!! What are prime numbers? What are composite numbers? How are factors and multiples related? Social Studies: We will begin our study of explorers (John Cabot, Vasco Nunez de Balboa, Juan Ponce de Leon, Christopher Columbus, Henry Hudson, and Jacques Cartier). Science We are studying weather, climate and weather maps. Watch the weather channel or go online to look up the weather for the week with your children. We will learn to read weather maps!! Spanish: Initially, I started with short phrases with the class. Now it has turned into something that they are really interested in. I started taking lesson this summer, and I've been trying to implement the language in class. This week I gave the students a handout of greetings in spanish. Next, we will begin exploring the vocabulary, specifically nouns. |
