Teaching Philosophy
I truly believe that if given the right opportunity, a caring and nurturing environment and being guided by a teacher who enjoys learning, loves and supports individuality and team work, any child can be successful. My hope is that each child that comes into my classroom feels the love and support needed to help them grow into the successful students that they are meant to be. Every child deserves to have their needs met. I will do my best to support the TOTAL child. Total meaning academically, socially, and emotionally.
To support the academic needs of students I will do my best to learn the needs and interest of each individual. I will try to present every skill required based on Gwinnett County Standard and the Common Core, while differentiating instruction and materials based on the needs of each child.
Socially, I will do my best to create an environment built on trust and teamwork. In time my hope is to develop a team. Students should feel free to express themselves freely and appropriately amongst their peers without fear of being judged.
Emotionally, I hope to provide students with reassurance. My desire is to build a community of trust and understanding. As time progresses, students will begin to understand how to express themselves appropriately and respectfully. They will also learn to receive and give information respectfully, while understanding the value and opinions of others. I will do my best to model ways to positively respond when differences may occur.
Also, as a parent of three, I believe that parents play an intricate role in their child’s educational career. My hope is that I will build a positive rapport with all of my parents. I’ve learned that when the parents and the teacher are on the same page the student sees consistency in what’s expected at home and at school, as far as academics and behavior are concerned. In turn, students develop a balance between home and school. With that consistency, it is my belief that student success is inevitable.
Finally, As William Ward quoted,” The mediocre teacher tells, The good teacher explains, The superior teacher demonstrates, The great teacher inspires.” I hope to be that inspiration for all of my pupils.
